About us
For 25 years Begawan has dedicated itself to community development for the people of Bali.
The conservation arm of Begawan Gita began its breeding and release programme in Banjar Begawan, Melinggih Kelod in 1999. bred and released the critically endangered Bali Starling in Nusa Penida and Sibang, From 2018, Begawan focused its efforts once again in the village of Melinggih Kelod.
Begawan Guru’s progressive education programme, provided quality comprehensive education to children from rural villages from 2000 to 2025.
A regenerative agriculture initiative, Begawan Giri, began in 2021 as part of the Foundation and transitioned into a commercial venture in 2024, growing naturally cultivated Mansur Heritage Rice in partnership with local farmers, supplying hotels, resorts and private buyers.

For over 25 years, Begawan was dedicated to children’s education, Bali Starling conservation, and, more recently, agriculture. Guided by our values, we developed initiatives that benefited local communities while preserving Bali’s natural environment and traditional way of life.

Begawan Biji
Our farm-to-table restaurant
Dine on fire-cooked dishes made with fresh ingredients from our farm, surrounded by Bali’s beautiful countryside. Begawan Biji is where visitors can witness regenerative agriculture firsthand and sample and buy Mansur Heritage Rice grown naturally by local farmers.
